Frasier

Well, after the huge success of ‘Sex and the City’ movie, many show creators are thinking to make movie versions of their TV hits. Hit TV show ’Friends’ is also coming to the big screen and ‘Doctor Who’ is also ready to make the transition. There’re rumors that Kelsey Grammer, the man which played Dr. Frasier on ‘Frasier TV series, has also an idea to return with a movie named ‘Frasier’.

But, but… but… all these were just rumors and Kelsey Grammer has announced publicly that ‘Frasier’ would never be back as a movie. He said, “I hope not- it’s just bound to be a failure. Frasier is rooted in the camera tradition that involves an audience participating. You have to allow that to happen for sitcom for work. And I wouldn’t want to see that in film. I think it would be silly and tortured with self awareness and foolishness”. Ahh… I think… He should re-consider his statement.

Okay, I do agree with him but I’d also say that if Sarah Jessica Parker and her crew can make a success on big screen, then, why can’t Grammer and his buddies. It’s his right to take the final decision, but he should also hear fans’ pledges.

I think that Kelsey Grammer is not in mood to portray the same role, once again, which he portrayed for 20 consecutive years. If so…then, he should give someone else a chance to do so. Just imagine, if Kelsey doesn’t appear in ‘Frasier’ movie, then, whom you’d like to see, playing ‘Dr. Frasier Crane’. Oh! Come on… only Kelsey Grammer is the one who can perform Frasier Crane… no one else!

I’ve been a fan of ‘Frasier’ when it was on run. Series was a spin off of ‘Cheers’ and was very much liked by the fans throughout its very long run.

No contradictions on above statement, and if anyone does have, then, I am not gonna consider it. There’re no issues that Dr. Frasier Crane’s family is one of the best loved families. I hope, no one will say that ‘Family Guy’s’ guys were better than Cranes… ha ha ha

Dr. Frasier Crane- initially, we felt sympathy for him when he returned to Seattle with a motive to lead peaceful life, just like a bachelor. Ahh! It was interrupted by Martin Frasier and of course his assistants Daphne Moon and Eddie. It was like someone intentionally moved in, so that the other one couldn’t survive easily… poor Frasier

How can I forget Niles… nay never! He’s Frasier’s younger brother who’s also a psychiatrist. During the first two seasons, he made me angry when he didn’t propose Daphne Moon. But I was okay with him, when he ultimately revealed his feelings towards her and they married each other.

Martin Crane, the name doesn’t need any definition. He’s the one who created mess in Dr. Frasier’s life when he moved in his apartment along with Eddie and his physiotherapist. He’s sixty something and still had romantic feelings towards sexy and beautiful ladies… not ladies, actually gals! And, in the series finale ‘Goodnight, Seattle (2)’, he married Ronee Lawrence, a very sexy young gal.

Whatever… everyone worked smartly and that’s the reason which led ‘Frasier’ to run for 11 successful seasons. How many shows are there which ran for such long time? And if Frasier did so, it simply means that it’s different and had something really exciting.

Although, every member of Crane family possessed some weakness or the other, but still they guys had several positive points. They listened to each other; they loved each other and they helped each other… that’s what an ideal family should be like!

Yeah, yeah, I know what you may be thinking right now, after reading the above statement. I am sure-you’ll have very surprised eyes with squeezed eyebrows. And, your question will be- why ‘Frasier’ is my favorite till now? Hey, I can’t forget ‘Frasier’; in fact, I still remember each and every scene of my favorite episodes and also the celebrities who portrayed various characters on series.

‘Frasier’ ruled the NBC network for 11 seasons and every season was better than the previous one. When ‘Cheers’, the show whose spin-off was ‘Frasier’, was premiered, I was just 6. Mama used to watch it, but not me. So, when ‘Frasier’ came, I was pretty excited to watch it and started watching it from the day of its premiere.

Show ran for 11 very enjoyable seasons and when Kelsey Grammer declared that ‘Frasier’ is over… I felt very disappointed.

It was not so easy to say good-bye to a show which you loved a lot. Everything in ‘Frasier’ was fantastic, starting from story-line to the performance of individuals. Kelsey Grammer, the man who led others in show as Dr. Frasier Crane, portrayed the same character for 20 consecutive years. I think, he did a marvelous job and we don’t have any such kinda example in TV history. Well, I know it seems pretty funny… but I’d like to have another spin-off …….. If they plan ever!

‘Frasier‘, one of the most critically acclaimed comedy series, is a successful spin-off of a very popular series ‘Cheers’. Series revolves around Dr. Frasier Crane, the former ‘Cheers’ bar patron and the current host of a Seattle Radio Advice Show at KACL. ‘Frasier’ picks up the things exactly from where they were left by ‘Cheers’. After his second divorce Dr. Frasier returns to his home town Seattle, in order to live a peaceful and happy home-life: just like a bachelor. But all his plans are shattered when his father, Martin Crane- an ex-cop, moves in with him. He’s retired and is unable to live by himself due to an injury. Adding more nuisances to Dr. Frasier’s life, are the following ones who move in along with Martin- Daphne Moon, Martin’s British, semi-psychic physiotherapist, Eddie, the dog. Niles Crane, Dr. Frasier’s snobbish and competitive younger brother, who is also a psychiatrist lives nearby and visits him often.

Although lots of disturbances are there in his personal life but, his professional life is satisfactory. He hosts a radio program, produced by Roz Doyle. Roz and Frasier are good friends and Dr. Frasier, being an intelligent doctor, handles people’s problems wisely and is eager to help others.

‘Frasier’ was premiered on September 16, 1993 and it came to an end on May 13, 2004, after 11 successive seasons. ‘Frasier’ has won 37 Emmy awards during its’ 11 seasons long run. As it got more success than its predecessor ‘Cheers’, so is known as one of the most successful spin-offs in TV history.
