Last year this month, Emmy Award had its 60th grand anniversary and something shocking happened there, never expected by cast and fans of Frasier. It just strike my mind few days back while watching Fraiser, which is officially voted as the best sitcom of all time by Emmy voters. In Emmy’s Diamond Anniversary, the award featured 10 of TV’s most memorable moments in comedy and 10 in drama. For everyone’s surprise ‘Frasier’ was not included in it, not even at the 20th rank and no one was able to digest this news, including me.
Frasier holds the record for winning the most overall awards, as it won 37 Emmy Awards in 11 years. It won more best-series awards than any other show, comedy or drama: five (1994-1998) and is considered as the greatest comedy in TV history, not only winning the most awards among laughers but being the greatest TV series for more than a decade.
The star of the show, Grammer, who was mainly responsible for making it huge hit, is busy these days giving his best in new ventures. Grammer, who played the title character and won four best actors awards representing this show, has won several awards in fields other than acting since 1994. Now he is getting ready to produce and act in lead role in a new ABC sitcom ‘Hank’. We will also watch him soon on big screen in ‘Aligator Point’, ‘Middle Men’ and ‘Bunyan and Babe’.
