‘Frasier’ returned with season 8 on 24 October 2000 with the season opener entitled ‘And the Dish Ran Away with the Spoon (1)’. Season 8 opens from where the last season finale left off. Niles and Daphne tell Mel and Donny that they love each other and it upsets them. Even, Donny files a case against Daphne and Mel has revenge on her mind as well. Later on, Mel forces Niles to marry her and he does it with a smile on his face, so that she can grant him a divorce. Mel makes Niles aware that he can’t go out to dinner with Daphne as now he’s officially married to her (Mel). But, a very sweet Frasier Crane arranges a very romantic dinner for Niles and Daphne, just to make them realize that they can’t go out doesn’t mean that they can’t have a romantic dinner. Although, everything is not in favor of Niles and Daphne but at least they’re not afraid to tell the rest of the world that they’re made for each other. Frasier reluctantly acts as a mentor to Radio Station KACL’s new young owner, Silicon Valley, a billionaire. He also dates the lawyer, Abby, who’s defending Daphne against Donny. During this season, Dr. Frasier hosts Seattle’s annual Christmas parade; Fredrick undergoes a chaotic camping trip with his father Frasier and his grandfather, Martin.

In the very special episode ‘Sliding Frasiers’, two different scenarios of Frasier’s Valentine day are unfolded. Roz hires astronaut politician John Glenn as the narrator for her TV space documentary and it makes Frasier jealous of him. Jean Smart is seen as Lana Gardner, Frasier’s litigious high school girlfriend. Season 8 comes to an end on May 22, 2001 with the season finale entitled ‘Cranes Go Caribbean’. In this episode, we see Frasier who learns that Martin, Niles and Daphne are going to accompany him on his trip to Belize with Claire and he’s not okay with it.

In season’s most liked episode, we see that Daphne returns from spa and she has put on weight. She gives a surprising explanation of her recent weight gain. Roz writes a book on the basis of a story, which Roz’s mother was used to tell her during her childhood. But soon she finds that a book and a movie are already available on the same story.
